Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic used to treat a wide range of infections within cattle. However, in humans it leads to Chloramphenicol induced aplastic anaemia. This has led to the use of Chloramphenicol being restricted within the European Union since 1994 for the treatment of animals used for food production.
The Randox Food Diagnostics Chloramphenicol ELISA validated for milk and milk powder offers excellent limits of detection and specific detection of Chloramphenicol and its metabolites.
