Ethinylestradiol ELISA

Ethinylestradiol (EE) is a synthetic estrogen used primarily for reproductive management, disease control and growth promotion in specific species, although its use in food-producing animals like cattle is strictly regulated or prohibited due to health and environmental concerns.

Prohibition in the EU: Ethinylestradiol /EE derivatives in food-producing cattle for growth promotion have been prohibited in the European Union since October 2006 due to food safety concerns and the potential for residues in the environment. Its illegal use is monitored through the detection of residues in cattle urine samples.

Environmental Concerns: Ethinylestradiol entering the environment through animal husbandry waste (manure, urine) poses a significant environmental risk and can have a substantial impact on fish populations.

Residues in Food Products: The concern over residues of hormonal substances in meat products has led to strict regulations and monitoring, particularly regarding products intended for human consumption. Methods have been developed to detect these residues to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

The Randox Food Diagnostics Ethinylestradiol ELISA test kit offers excellent limits of detection for the screening of Ethinylestradiol residues in urine. Applicable sample types include bovine urine.
